It is expected that all courses and field experiences in the professional preparation program will be completed at the University, with the exception of waivers granted by the early childhood faculty on a case by case basis or courses accepted through established institutional articulation agreements. Candidates are required have submitted official qualifying score on the Praxis Core, SATs or ACTs prior to beginning professional sequence Education coursework. The Early Childhood Content Knowledge praxis must be past before clinical practice (official scores must be received from ETS by August 1 for Fall or January 1 for Spring). View Requirements and Course Descriptions: Early Childhood Education BA and Teaching Students with Disabilities Endorsement Steps to begin Professional Sequence of Education Coursework: Enroll as an early childhood education major and have an appropriate academic major as indicated by the state. Complete required bilingual, multicultural, and child development courses with at least a C grade. Qualifying score on the Praxis Core, SATs or ACTs (#5751) (please refer to the Praxis Core webpage for more information and deadlines) Successful completion of the required interview process. Obtain a NJ Substitute Teaching License. Achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Complete required math courses before the clinical experience (3rd) semester. Complete two science courses before the clinical experience semester. Complete two history courses before the clinical experience semester, one of them American history. The PRAXIS Subject Assessment exam in Early Childhood Content Knowledge must be taken before Clinical Practice I and successfully passed by August 1 for Fall Clinical Practice II or January 1 for Spring Clinical Practice II. Please Note: No more than one additional course may be taken during student teaching. A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.0 in education courses on a 4.00 scale.
