11/08/2017 - 11/12/2017 President Xiaoyang Yang and Vice President Xiaoling Zhang of China National Academy of Painting and Their Delegation Visited William Paterson University President Xiaoyang Yang and Vice President Xiaoling Zhang of China National Academy of Painting led a delegation of 12 on a visit to William Paterson University on November 10. The following artists gave speeches on the theme “Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting: Art Appreciation and Reevaluation in a Cross-Cultural Context.” Xiaoyang Yang President of China National Academy of Painting. His artworks were featured in the “Ink Painting from the East: An Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Ink Paintings in America.” He gave the keynote speech at the exhibition opening ceremony. He initiated the dialogue with famous American art critic Mr. Robert Morgan on the theme “Crossing Pacific: Face to Face with Masters.” Xiaoling Zhang Vice President of China National Academy of Painting, Director of the Art Research Institute at China National Academy of Painting, chief editor of Art News of China, Chief Curator of the exhibition “Ink Painting from the East: An Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Ink Paintings in America,” featured speaker at the symposium “Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting: Art Appreciation and Reevaluation in a Cross-Cultural Context.” Jin Sun Professor of Department of Political Science at Beijing Normal University. He gave the keynote speech at the symposium “Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting: Art Appreciation and Reevaluation in a Cross-Cultural Context” during the exhibition “Ink Painting from the East: An Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Ink Paintings in America.” His earlier research focused on philosophy and aesthetics. In the past 15 years, his study switched to comparative modernism and peasant life from political/social perspective. His major publications are in these two main categories as well. 11/29/2017 - 12/03/2017 Delegation of Exhibition Soul of the Han: Han Carved Stone from Teng Zhou, China visited William Paterson University Upon the invitation of the Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson University, a delegation of four for the exhibition “Soul of the Han: Han Carved Stone from Teng Zhou, China” visited America. During their visit at William Paterson University, they hosted exhibition and lectures, and demonstrated stone rubbing. Hongwei Zhang Deputy Secretary General of Zaozhuang City, gave the key speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Soul of the Han: Han Carved Stone from Tengzhou China” at New York Chinese Art Gallery in Manhattan on December 2, 2017. Liping Hu Director of Bureau of Cultural Heritage of Zaozhuang City, gave a featured speech on “A Trip Back in Time: Art Appreciation and the Highlight of the Han Carved Stone Rubbings” during the exhibition lecture and demonstration at William Paterson University on November 30, 2017. Sang Zhang Director of Bureau of Cultural Heritage of Zaozhuang City presented live calligraphy demonstration during the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Soul of the Han: Han Carved Stone from Tengzhou China” at New York Chinese Art Gallery in Manhattan on December 2, 2017. Hui Li Director of China Tengzhou Museum of Han Carved Stones, demonstrated how to make Han carved stone rubbing paintings at William Paterson University on November 30, 2017. Er Wang Princeton University visiting scholar from Beijing University, gave his speech and shared his thoughts during the exhibition lecture and demonstration at William Paterson University on November 30, 2017.
