Campus Photography and Videography

William Paterson is a public university and our campus is open to the public. Individuals including students, faculty/staff, and others in attendance in public spaces on campus or at University-sponsored events can expect that the University may at times take photos or videos for educational, news, promotional, advertising, or other purposes. 

For photography or video in any public space on campus or at a William Paterson University-sponsored event on or off campus, it is assumed that: 

  • All rights to sound, still, or moving images belong to William Paterson University.
  • The University has the right to use sound, still, or moving images in any medium for educational, promotional, advertising, or other purposes that support the mission of the University.
  • If a participant is approached by a photographer/videographer, it is their responsibility to decline to participate if they so choose.

 

Photo Requests from Campus Departments
When a campus department requests photography services through Marketing and Public Relations, it is the requesting department’s responsibility to inform event participants that a photographer/videographer will be present and that their image may be captured for use by the University. This notification to attendees may take the form of a verbal announcement or signage at event entrances. 

Talent Release Forms
The Marketing and Public Relations Department applies professional judgment in instances where a signed talent release form may be needed.
