Covid-19 Health and Safety Information

This site includes information and resources for the William Paterson University community regarding COVID-19 health and safety, including campus communications, campus operations, health and prevention, and other topics. We are following guidance from the CDC, the State of New Jersey, and local public health agencies regarding the response to COVID-19, which is coordinated by the University's COVID Response Team. The team is co-chaired by the Director of Counseling, Health, and Wellness and the Director of Public Safety and University Police, and includes representatives from a wide range of campus offices.

Returning to Campus for the Spring 2022 Semester

During the Spring 2022 semester, the University is providing on-campus instruction; in addition, a mix of online and hybrid courses are available as they were prior to the pandemic. Campus life features primarily in-person programs and events and in-person interactions with peers, faculty, and staff. The Office of Residence Life offers a traditional occupancy model. Student support services are offered both in person and remotely. The University continues to adhere to all state and federal guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work and learning environment.

Health and Safety Protocols

All students returning to campus for spring 2022, as well as all employees, are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Those with approved medical or religious exemptions will be subject to regular COVID-19 testing, and will be required to wear masks while indoors on campus and maintain appropriate social distance wherever possible.

COVID vaccine boosters are not being required at this time; however, they are strongly encouraged for everyone who is eligible to receive them.

On-campus testing for unvaccinated/exempt individuals, and those in high-risk academic programs, will be provided by FastMed LLC on Tuesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. in the White Hall Lounge beginning February 1, 2022. Walk-ins by faculty, staff, or students (unvaccinated or vaccinated) are permitted when volume permits. The clinic is not for individuals who have symptoms.

WP has partnered with St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center for off-campus testing for our community members at their drive-in testing center at St. Joseph’s Wayne, located adjacent to the campus and accessible via University Drive. PCR tests are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; please bring the St. Joseph's Referral Form to identify you as a member of our community. For more information, visit St. Joseph's COVID Testing

Starting this semester, a new WP COVID Testing Portal has been established to help streamline contact tracing and notifications. All student and employees will have access to their own portal and can upload their test results.

As of April 4, 2022, masks continue to be required of everyone in all instructional spaces, and in the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center. Masks are recommended but not required for vaccinated students, faculty, and staff for all other indoor spaces on campus, including the Cheng Library, Shea Center, and residence halls, as well as outdoors. Vaccine-exempt students, faculty, and staff must continue to wear a mask everywhere on campus.
