Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson University 2013, Summer in China Dean Daryl Moore and Professor Zhiyuan Cong’s visit to Shanghai June 17– 21, 2013 William Paterson University College of the Arts and Communication: Dean Daryl Moore and the Center for Chinese Art Director Zhiyuan Cong have visited Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum in China. They met with the museum Director Zhang, Jian, Secretary Wang, Xinhua, and Vice-director to discuss and evaluate the collaboration of several projects over the past two years. Both parties were satisfied with the cooperation and hope to establish a long- term, stable and consistent partnership. During the visit, they saw the new museum site under construction, and later on secretary Wang, Xinhua accompanied them to Zhenjiang. They also visited the famous Shanghai artist Chen, Jia Ling, a famous Chinese painter Wang, Meng Qi and a famous printmaker Lu, Zhiping. June 22, 2013 Dean Moore and Director Cong have been invited by Nantong Bencha town government to attend the inaugural meeting of the Bencha Advisory Committee development in Shanghai. Dean Moore made a congratulatory speech, and Director Cong was especially invited to be the adviser. Dean Daryl Moore and Professor Zhiyuan Cong’s visit to Beijing June 22-23, 2013 William Paterson University -College of the Arts and Communication: Dean Daryl Moore and Center for the Chinese Art Director Zhiyuan Cong have visited Beijing and made a special visit to William Paterson University in Beijing Advisory Committees Yang, Xiaoyang, Chen, Lusheng, Liu, Yong and Li, Ping in appreciation of their help and support. Dean Moore and Director Cong visited the National Museum of China in the morning on the 23rd. Chen, Lusheng, the Vice-Director of the National Museum of China and Center for Chinese Art advisory committees invited them to attend Sheng, Meibing’s exhibition opening and later was invited to have lunch together. Dean Moore appreciates Vice- Director Chen Lusheng’s care and support for the Center for Chinese Art, and hope by both joint efforts to promote Chinese arts. On the afternoon of the 23rd, accompanied by Center for Chinese Art Honorary Director Liu, Yong and advisory committees Li, Ping, Dean Moore and Director Cong visited Yang, Xiaoyang, President of China National Academy of Painting. They have reviewed the past two years’ activities since 2011; they were satisfied with the results of the exchange activities, achievements and good memories. They are hopeful that the future will be carried out consistently with more enhanced education of American culture and art activities. Zhiyuan Cong, Director of Center for Chinese Art’s lecture in China On May 30th Director Cong was invited to visit the University of Nantong, and gave a lecture entitled, “ Art of life: an ordinary person’s struggle”. During his stay in Nantong, he also visited the Nantong Institute of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting. On June 6th, Director Cong visited Nanjing, and was invited by Nanjing Ninhai Middle School to make a speech on his art life journey. President Huang, Wenwu awarded Professor Cong with a commendation as the school’s special instructor. During his stay in Nanjing, he visited the Nanjing Arts Institute, Feng Jianqin, a famous oil painter and director of China Lacquer panting Committee, a famous printmaker Cheng, Mian, the Jiangsu Department of culture Deputy Director Gao, Yun, art director Chen Jianhua, and Nanjing Municipal Bureau of culture, deputy director Xu, Kaili, a famous printmaker Chen, Chao. On June 14th, Director Cong visited Guizhou National University and Guizhou Artists Association, and was invited to Guizhou National University to held a lecture, "The United States of America Prints: twenty-first Century printmaking’s world vane". Vice President Yang, Changru awarded Professor Cong as honorary professor for the University. At Guizhou National University Professor Cong Zhiyuan met with Foreign Affairs Office’s director, Lu, Yinghong, deputy director Zeng, Li, and the Academy of Fine Arts Dean Wang, Jianshan. They discussed and exchanged the education in art; they all hope that in the University printmaking, especially for a graduate course, they can have substantial cooperation in the future. On July 3rd Professor Cong visited Beijing Normal University, which was invited to give Princeton University in Beijing’s students a special art lecture series entitled "the Endless life of Chinese art: Conflict and balance". The topic carried on with Princeton University’s teachers during the Dinner section. While in Beijing professor Cong also paid a special visit to the Chinese Artists Association Executive Chairman Wu, Changjiang, China Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum Curator Wang, Huangsheng, Tsinghua University Professor and Vice President of China Printmaking Committee Dai, Daquan, and China Academy of Chinese Painting Institute Vice President Fan, Yang, to communicate and discuss the possibility of further mutual cooperation and exchanges. On July 1st, Professor Cong was invited to visit Ningxia Yinchuan. While in Ningxia the Professor made a special visit to a famous printmaker and Ningxia Artists Association Chairman Luo, Guirong and his studio, and also observed his students' artwork. Professor Cong also met with Northwest National University International office Director and Academy of Fine Arts Director, to have conversation about both University’s art education curriculum. During his visit of the Western Xia imperial tombs, he received a special interview with the Ningxia TV station and the Ningxia evening news program. Special Interviews Professor Cong, as an artist and Director of William Paterson University Center for Chinese Art, has accepted some special interviews and media news reports during the visit in China.

Mingsheng Liu and Yong Liu Distinguished Visiting Artist SeriesProfessor Weishan Wu, Academy of Chinese Sculpture, a Lecture and Presentation: Soul of Sculptural Art of Weishan Wu September 10th, 2012, 2:30 - 4:30 PM (Monday)144C Power Art Center, 25 Power Ave, Wayne, NJ, 07470 Professor Weishan Wu, a distinguished sculptor, was invited to this trip to have his special solo art exhibition at UN, NYC. He is the Dean, Academy of Chinese Sculpture and also a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (FRBS) and the Society of Portrait Sculptors in the UK. Weishan Wu won the Pangolin Award of the British Society of Portrait Sculptors in 2003. He won the Chinese Urban Sculpture Achievement Award, the highest award in urban sculpture in China in 2009, and the China Arts Award, a special honor in Chinese literary and art circles in 2011.
