Korean Folk Music Group to Perform on April 23 in Celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Coreyah, a Korean folk music group, will bring their pioneering music to William Paterson University in Wayne on Tuesday, April 23 in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The performance will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts as part of the University’s WP Presents! series.

Coreyah is a psychedelic Korean folk music group whose six members integrate traditional Korean instruments, vocals, guitar, and percussion. Since their debut, Coreyah has pioneered a new style of Korean music that blends genres of contemporary ethnic and popular sounds while still maintaining the distinctive characteristics of traditional Korean instruments. The group’s unique freewheeling, polystylistic vision combines a variety of influences, including Anglo-American rock, Balkan gypsy, and genres from South America and Africa.

This event is supported by Mid Atlantic Arts, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Performing Arts Global Exchange (PAGE) grant.

Admission is free and open to the public. For additional information, call the Shea Center for Performing Arts Box Office at 973-720-2371 or visit wp-presents.org.
