Nearly 400 international high school students, primarily from Italy, are visiting the William Paterson University campus this summer. The visit is the result of a partnership between the University’s School of Continuing Education and Interstudio Viaggi (ISV), an agency from Italy that brings high school students to the United States for summer academic programs. The students arrived in three consecutive groups from July 5 to August 10, 2017.
“The students are having a tremendous amount of fun,” says Bernadette Tiernan, executive director of the School of Continuing Education. “They are practicing their English skills and taking Pre-College Summer Youth courses such as web design and persuasive communication. They’re also enjoying field trips to New York City, dances in the Machuga Student Center, and using the athletic facilities to play soccer and basketball.” After leaving the campus, the students will travel to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.
The University’s partnership with ISV is the beginning of a three-year international collaboration.
